The 2002 image was taken July 16th @ H. Thanks to Hugh McGuinness of East Hampton, NY for the identification. The 2005 images were taken July 29th. Identification was by Dr. Johm Brown of the NMNH, Wash., DC and Dr. John Glaser of Berkely Springs WV. Larva feed on young beechnuts, chestnut burs or "oak apples" (galls of cynipid wasps on oak trees).
