The 2005 image was taken October 25th, 1989 from LaVale, Allegany County, MD. Common over state. All., Balt., Dor., Wash., Wic. and Wo. Counties. October 5th to April 14th. The amount of black on the forewing is subject to considerable variation. Larva feed upon many deciduous trees, but are commonoly predatory on other caterpillars.
