Common in western Maryland, scarce eastward. All., A.A., Balt., Calvert, Garrett, Har., Wash. and Wo. Counties. June 10th to September 18th. Larva are carnivorous - they eat geometrid caterpillars that feed on oaks. Any long series of this species shows considerable variation in color and maculation. Identification was by Don Lafontaine of CBIF.
