All., Balt., Ch., Gar., P.G. and Wo. Counties. July 8th to August 10th. Closely related to H. aeglialis but very dark on both wings; hardly any markings on hindwing; middle segments of male antenna rectangular (nearly square in aegialis). This species occurs at least from Mryland to Georgia and westward to Arkansas. Identified adults reared from "Christmas fern in Union County, GA.
