DESCRIPTION   Two old specimens in the USNM from Plummer's Island, Montgomery County, June 5th and July 10th (year not given). Two recent ones, 2 mile West Doncaster, Charles County, August 5th, 1997 and Charlestown, Cecil County, August 21st, 1997. Found from southern Canada to Florida and Louisiana. Larva is a borer in smartweeds, Polygonum sp.; ragweeds, Ambrosia sp.; cocklebur, Xanthium sp.; boneset or Joe Pye weed, Eupatorium sp.; maize, Zea mays; and other plants (Heinrich,1919). e r
